Activities of WMA Society
Organisational Consulting & Support
New offer for members
Further education in the field of medicine is often organised by Societies and coordinated volunteers, usually in addition to their professional responsibilities. However, the successful planning and delivery of scientific events and other activities of a Society frequently involve complex and resource-intense organisational, legal and tax-related questions.
In order to provide targeted support to its members, WMA now offers a new information- & consulting format.
Regular small-scale informative events address specific questions related to association and event management—practical, easy to understand, and enriched with insights from experts across various fields, including legal and tax advisors. In addition, informative newsletters and brief individual consultations, such as contract reviews, will support our members in navigating complex decisions and staying up to date.
Kick-off funding for early-stage medical research
The kick-off funding is aimed at WMA members
WMA’s start-up funding supports the submission of medical research projects through targeted initial funding. The programme funds projects in both clinical and non-clinical basic medical research intended to be submitted to national or European funding institutions with peer-review processes (e.g., FWF, Horizon Europe).
The kick-off funding is aimed at WMA members – in particular researchers up to ten years of completing their PhD – and supports specific preparatory steps, such as experimental preliminary work, submissions to clinical trial authorities, medical writing, or meetings with project partners.
Up to €12,000 (gross) can be awarded per project. Calls for proposals are issued twice a year with the Research Funding Committee selecting projects based on clearly defined criteria.
The aim is to actively stimulate our members’ research projects and thereby contribute to the promotion of medical research.
Submission is exclusively reserved for WMA members. The next submission deadline is March 2026.
Full details regarding the application process will follow shortly.
